Huanghua pear, Chinese scientific name: Dalbergia odorifera, alias: Hainan Huangtan, Hainan Huanghua pear, Huali. Pteridaceae, Dalbergia, is a leguminous plant, also known as Hainan Dalbergia and Hainan Huanghua pear. It originates in the low-altitude plain and hilly areas of Jianfengling, Diaolou mountain, Hainan Island, China. It grows in sunny places about 100m above sea level. Because of its slow timber, solid wood and beautiful patterns, Huanghua pear wood, red sandalwood, chicken wing wood and iron wood are known as the four famous trees in ancient China.
Dalbergia odorifera is a unique tree species in Hainan Island. Except for the eastern mountainous area (such as diaolo mountain) with more rainfall and humidity, Dalbergia odorifera is scattered throughout the island, while it is concentrated in the West. It is generally distributed in mountainous areas below 670m above sea level and even sparse xerophytic forest plains. There are small pure forests in some parts of Baisha, Dongfang and Changjiang counties. Guangdong mainland, Guangxi, Fujian and other provinces (regions) have been introduced and cultivated successively. From the situation of introduction in various places, the shoots are generally withered during the winter of seedling stage, but they can sprout and resume normal growth.
